My first programming experiences
I am Peter Moor (born in 1984) and I already tried to make software when I was still going to primary school. I didn't know any programming languages yet, but with my creativity I tried to put together my own games. When I went to secondary school, a programming classmate told me about QuickBasic and Visual Basic. At this moment, I'm using Visual Basic to create Windows software already for a long time. In the beginning, I was very bad at it. When I look back at my early creations, I think they're very bad, so most of them are not available for download at my website anymore.
The development of 2 Pic
Funny about 2 Pic is that it's quite old as well. Unfortunately, I don't have the very first version anymore. I would like to look back at it with my current knowledge. I even don't know when I created it; I guess it was in 1999. The first version had almost no functionality, but I have been improving and expanding the program since. In the years, 2 Pic has developed from a very bad tool to quite a useful program.
The big evolvement: version 12
Despite the big number of improvements, the program's bad base remained. This was visible in both the ease of use and the underlying technology. 2 Pic had slowly turned into a useful program that many people were very positive about, but myself I was still unsatisfied because of all the bad properties of the program. I was annoyed by the bad program code (which, for example, led to bad memory use) and the functionality, which wasn't good in every view.
That's why I decided, in November 2003, to create a totally new 2 Pic. 2 Pic had turned from a Lada to an improved Lada, but this time I would make it a Porsche. The new version (version 12) indeed turned out to be much better than all its predecessors, in many ways.
Nowadays
Since the major update in 2003/2004, I am not working much anymore on 2 Pic. Sometimes I release small updates, in which bugs are fixed or minor improvements are made, but really spectacular improvements are not made.
This is not only true for 2 Pic, but also for my other programs. Programming is a hobby in which I don't invest very much time anymore. I am glad that 2 Pic is still downloaded very often, so I will keep maintaining its quality. Perhaps even with more major improvements, when I feel like it again!
